Shri Guruji Rugnalaya is committed to your health, offering comprehensive and compassionate care for your journey to better well-being. Along with urban patients, Shri Guruji Rugnalaya wanted to reach out to remote village patients who cannot come to hospital for their health needs. Hence the project Seva Sankalp Samiti came up, especially to cater the needs of holistic health of tribal areas. Seva Sankalp Samiti is outreach health project of Shri Guruji Rugnalaya started on 1st October 2016.
To provide an access for the under privileged to improve their health & social well being in every aspect of their life.
Holistic health service, development of ‘seva vasti’ & total upliftment of tribal.
The Seva Sankalp Samiti started its work on 1st October 2016 from one pada (group of tribes living together) in Peth and Trimbakeshwar talukas of Nashik district. With continuous efforts and dedication for seven years, the work has expanded to 80 extremely remote tribal padas. Seva Sankalp Samiti is working on 64 padas in the field of health along with 16 padas on other issues. Our work has reached to total of 80 padas so far.
In the field of healthcare, Seva Sankalp Samiti has done commendable work. Our mobile health clinic visits the padas on fixed routes at fixed times. These visits are going on continuously for the last 7 years. Patients are examined and given medicines for a week. By March 2024, 2 lakh patients have been benefitted from this mobile clinic. So far 1002 cataract eye surgeries have been done free of charge. While 200 pregnant women have benefited from free Sonography. Specialist doctors of Shri Guruji Hospital provide their expert health services by organising special camps in padas.
Seva Sankalp Samiti is providing health facilities at four service settlements (Seva Vasti) in Nashik city. Weekly outpatient check-ups are conducted in service settlements (Seva Vasti) in Prabuddha Nagar in Satpur industrial estate, Chunchale Gharkul project in Ambad industrial estate, Bharat Nagar in Wadala naka area while Amrapali and Panchak in Nashik Road area.
Awareness has been created about women’s health. Every month 1700 sanitary napkins are distributed regularly to school girls and women for menstrual hygiene. This has helped to keep menstrual diseases under control. As a result, this has prevented school girls from skipping school during their periods, thus the school dropout rate of school girls has come down to zero percent.
From this year on a pilot basis, a special awareness class of 5 hours on the subject of Adolescent Development has been started for adolescent girls once a month in ashram schools at Raite and Ozarkhed. Therefore, it will be easier for girls to face the changes of puberty and how to deal with it.
Along with health, the committee is working on 6 more dimensions. In this year, it has been decided to give maximum attention to two subjects namely water management and agriculture. A new dam was constructed at Trimbakeshwar in Avalpada Taluka this year. Around 350 resident of the pada have built this embankment by donating their own labour in hot summer.
So far, tanks with a capacity of 5,000 liters of drinking water have been installed on a total of 40 padas . The scheme of providing water to villages through solar energy was completed in 2 villages. An underground dam was built in a village. Due to difficult geographical conditions and heavy rocks in the area, water cannot be retained and stored in this area in spite of heavy rainfall. We plan to start watershed, spring shed project to store water under the guidance of geological experts.
Wadi project has been started for sustainable development of farmers and so far 380 farmers have been given Wadi. In Wadi, each farmer is encouraged to plant 100 trees each in his own farm. Along with this, he has been given a tank for storing water. A total of 38,000 trees have been planted that will be nurtured and guided by the Sankalp Committee for three years.
Peth and Trimbakeshwar talukas used to grow a lot of different varieties of rice but over the period, quantity has reduced a lot. This year Seva Sankalp Samiti distributed thirty different types of rice seeds and ten types of Nagali and Varai seeds to the farmers, free of charge.Soon we plan to start a big seed bank here.
Efforts have been made to provide farm ponds and drip irrigation sets to maximum number of farmers so that water is available to the farmers. So far 66 farmers have been given drip irrigation sets.
Seva Sankalp Samiti aims to make women financially independent. We encourage these tribal women to prepare food items like papad, masalas, vermicelli etc., grow mushrooms, stitch cloth bags, make ayurvedic soaps. We help them to get market for these products. The biggest activity is making cow-dung cakes during Holi every year. They are made available for sale at the Swavalamban counter of Seva Sankalp Samiti in Nashik.
A separate department has been created to prepare the necessary documents for tribal people so that they can benefit from skill development and government schemes.
So far they have received the documents of 5000 people through this department and more than 700 people have directly benefited from the government schemes.
Some places are blessed with natural beauty. This year, efforts are made increase the tourism business by fully developing the three villages.
Seva Sankalp Committee is trying to provide constructed houses to homeless and very poor families after a survey. So far 40 people have been constructed houses.
Sanskar Sankalp class, Literacy class activities are also starting.
Temples have been built in 8 villages under the Gram Vikas Yojana to maintain peace, harmony and culture in the villages. In the next 3 years, many schemes will be completed and efforts are underway to make maximum padas self-sufficient.
